WEEKLY TRAINING CLASSES

The cooler weather of the Fall, Winter, and early Spring is a time when we focus heavily on the development of our archery skills on the ground.  Starting in early December 2021, Seawinds will offer beginner and more advanced classes at two locations during evenings through the week:

Monday nights: Pine Meadows Equestrian Centre, 14053 Trunk 1, Wilmot, NS: Beginners 5:30-7 pm (class limit 12)

Monday nights: Pine Meadows Equestrian Centre, 14035 Trunk 1, Wilmot, NS: Advanced 7-8:30 pm (class limit 12)

Tuesday nights: Seawinds (8 Old Baxter's Mill Rd, Canning NS): Beginners: 6-8 pm (class limit 6)

Wednesday nights: Seawinds (8 Old Baxter's Mill Rd, Canning NS): Advanced: 6-8 pm (class limit 6)

Thursday nights: Seawinds (8 Old Baxter's Mill Rd, Canning NS): Advanced: 6-8 pm (class limit 6)

All classes are offered in 6-week sessions (this one has a two week break for Christmas and new years).  Cost is $138 for the 6-class session or $25 per class.  Each new beginner session offers an opportunity to gain the foundations from the starting point of leaning how to hold the bow and load the arrows on the string without looking away from the target (in the way that works on a bouncing horse).  Seasoned members attend classes where we focus on more advanced training routines meant to develop faster and more accurate shooting while the archer is moving.

A physical fitness element is incorporated into all the classes, to prepare our bodies for the balance, strength, and flexibility demands of horseback archery. Safety and situational awareness is part of the training but students must understand there is inherent risk involved. Students must bring appropriate athletic footwear (like runners or hiking boots) and clothing layers for the temperatures.  We usually do not wear gloves while shooting.  Limit of 6 to 15 students per class depending on the location.
